Anaerobic digestion can be designed from scratch or adapted to existing equipment at the customer, such as covering the ponds or reusing existing tanks at the facility.
Anaerobic Digestion / Biogas Production
Anaerobic digestion is a biological process, whereby organic matter is converted primarily into methane, carbon dioxide and water, in the absence of oxygen.
The methane has an energetic content that allows its use as a gaseous fuel in several applications.
This process thus allows to treat the organic waste, producing a renewable energy source - biogas - that can be harnessed for the production of electrical and thermal energy.
Anaerobic digestion technology, when integrated into a pollution control system through integrated waste management, has some important advantages, among which the following stand out:
- Reduction of treatment costs compared to conventional aerobic systems;
- Energy recovery of resources, namely biogas;
- Large reduction of COD (about 75%);
- If the fuel produced is recovered, it provides a reduction in energy costs;
