The methane has an energetic content that allows its use as a gaseous fuel in several applications.

This process thus allows to treat the organic waste, producing a renewable energy source - biogas - that can be harnessed for the production of electrical and thermal energy.

Anaerobic digestion technology, when integrated into a pollution control system through integrated waste management, has some important advantages, among which the following stand out:

• Reduction of treatment costs compared to conventional aerobic systems;
• Energy recovery of resources, namely biogas;
• Large reduction of COD (about 75%);
• If the fuel produced is recovered, it provides a reduction in energy costs;
